Path of Exile Item Upgrades
The performance of a variety of Path of Exile items can be enhanced by upgrading the performance of them. They can be a great source of damage and more AD or even more attachments.
Often times however upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item that they're attached to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternatively, they can also be rescued from items with upgrade components in them with a professional or higher salvage kit.
The amount of damage an armored item or weapon is able to absorb is dependent on the extent of its upgrades. The ability to absorb damage of an armor piece will increase as it is upgraded to the maximum upgrade level. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it should be heavier.
There are a few different types of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of health points while others will make it lighter and stronger. The type of armor upgrade that an item can receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.
A few upgrades also feature magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is shown by a "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges for use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. The charges associated with these upgrades refresh daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.
The cheapest way to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be obtained through exploring the surroundings and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive however, it is available through smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide a significant improvement in stats and are worth the cost, especially for single-handed weapons.
The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece up to the maximum upgrade level will increase its defense values. However, it will also affect the speed and agility of the piece. For this reason, it is typically not recommended to upgrade most armor pieces that are higher than +9 since the added defense is typically not worth the extra weight and power costs of the upgrades needed.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of certain aspects of an weapon. For instance an upgrade can increase the damage dealt by a shotgun's shells or the accuracy of the rifle that snipes. Certain weapons come with special upgrades to improve their inherent qualities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and reduces the risk of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).
The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These are obtained through either finishing side quests, killing a certain number of monsters or bosses, or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC in Central Flarine.
To upgrade a weapon, equipment set piece, or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a specific number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the higher the level. The cost of upgrading will be lower if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific amount of Bars. You could do this until you reach a max upgrade level of the equipment or weapon, following which the upgrades would be reset.
You can still do this, however, the process is high on RNG and low on agency. You should consider buying equipment with minimal upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These items have a greater chance of granting you the most prestigious tier of benefits and blessings.
To improve their skills faster, most players will prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to increase its utility when paired with experts in biotics like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels
Jewels are placed in the sockets of armor and weapons, enhancing the stats of a weapon and providing additional effects. They can be created through an process known as jewelry crafting, which is where you combine a gem with a number of specific reagents at a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gem is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.
The quality of a gem can be improved by the Jeweler, in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts will vary according to the tier that the jewel is at when it's inserted into jewelry, weapons or equipment.
All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to obtain them. Jewels can be replaced with another one without damaging the original. However you can only swap out the jewels in an item of equipment once.
The use of more jewels in a move can make it feel more comfortable, and is often done for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the jewels also create an area that is stronger than metal, which means that repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your weapons and shields. These are a small perk and can be swapped out at any time but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. item upgrader , such as traits or aegis cannot be swapped, and can only be recovered with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are pieces of equipment that offer many small, but beneficial benefits to your hero. They are available in the starter area as loot or as personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors and by doing road interaction. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased on the Trading Post.
The first trinkets a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants a small but useful bonus in speed of movement and the ability to escape. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in the same manner to the way a player acquires armor and weapons. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be put into any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and is only compatible with specific types of trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows a hero to be more efficient while inactive. It can also compensate for the lack of a strong slot in the talent tree or team which are usually filled by the hero's best stats.
In general trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable statistics that aren't as important as the iLevel for the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you are looking to upgrade multiple stats on an item. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat instead of two subpar ones.
Jungle players often upgrade their yellow trinkets to a red trinket at the beginning of the game. Mid and top players, on the other hand they will select a green or a pink ward, based on the matchup. These choices will have a major impact on the hero's ability to control his map.
Aside from the things mentioned above, players can find a number of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards. They can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, such as finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. These can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
